Korean Heritage Series_#1 백동 촛대 (A Cupronickel Candle Holder)
Candlesticks, made in Joseon Dynasty (1392~1897, Korea), had decorative reflectors.
Probably, the reflectors were originally added to make the candlelight brighter. But as time passed, the reflectors’ shapes became various and more decorative. Sometimes, the poem is engraved on them.
This candlestick has double '喜' which means joy and happiness. Usually, this character was used for newly married couples.
